Andres Acuna
Andrés Acuña is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in medical device manufacturing and operations leadership. He currently serves as Site Director for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies in Costa Rica, where he successfully led the greenfield start-up and ramp-up of the site, scaling from construction to first export in just 18 months, delivering significant operational efficiencies to the organization while achieving a 98% reduction in customer backorders.
Andrés has played a key role in shaping operational strategies, fostering innovation, and building cross-functional partnerships in global companies such as MicroPort Orthopedics, Boston Scientific, Intel Corporation, and Baxter Healthcare. His leadership spans Engineering, Operations, Shared Services and General Management, with a strong focus on operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Andrés holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University. He is a Board Member of the Costa Rica Chamber of Exporters (CADEXCO) and Vice President of the Costa Rica Medical Devices Cluster (CRMDC), an organization dedicated to advancing the industry through collaboration and innovation.
