Michael Chu

Michael Chu is a co-founder and the Chief Technology Officer of Makani Science, specializing in soft sensor technology. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, where he co-authored more than ten peer-reviewed publications and is listed as an inventor on multiple patents. His research on wearable sensors for respiratory monitoring has been featured in various media outlets and forms the foundation of Makani Science’s core technology.

In his role as CTO, Michael combines deep technical expertise with entrepreneurial experience. He is continuously strengthening his business acumen, and has participated in well-known accelerators such as Y-Combinator, MedTech Innovators, and UC Launch.
